Custom Fixtures That Meet Your Needs
The Opportunity
The creative design team required a unique desk for their distance learning program. The Royal Tyrrell Museum is Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the science of paleontology. In addition to housing one of the world’s largest displays of dinosaurs, the Museum offers a wide variety of creative, fun and educational programs that bring the prehistoric past to life.

Our Task
To engineer a desk that had a clean look on the exterior and a custom set of drawers on the interior to accommodate the fossil trays while still allowing easy access to the educator.
The Solution
The design team provided us with a scaled model to work from. Our engineering department discussed and critiqued the details with the team and then provided shop drawings that were sent for redlining. Changes were made based on the Educators needs and final shop drawings were created.
The Results
A unique desk was created that is shown around the world in classrooms through videoconferencing and in the museum during school field trips or discovery classes. The desk had slanted drawers as well as hidden hardware for the flip up sides and intricate detail on the back and front for all camera angles.
Their knowledge and diversity make them unique, and their willingness to work with different materials encourages our design team to take risks and diversify.
